Local AI Chat ("the App", "we", "us") is developed by MyMobileIdeaStudio. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your choices regarding that information. Please read it carefully.
Local AI Chat does not have a backend server for its core chat feature. As a result, we do not collect, store, or have access to:
All of the above is stored locally on your device only (using on-device storage), and is only transmitted off your device if you choose to use an optional backup feature described below.
Chat inference is performed locally on your device using llama.cpp/llama.rn and the model you select. We do not send your prompts, images, files, transcripts, or conversation history to a third-party AI inference service.
When you choose to download a model, the model file is retrieved from the listed hosting provider, such as Hugging Face or ModelScope. These providers receive the normal network request needed to deliver the file (which may include standard connection information such as your IP address), but the App does not upload your chat content to them.
Voice input is optional and is not required for text chat. The App requests microphone and speech-recognition permission only after you tap the microphone button. On iOS, the App uses Apple's SFSpeechRecognizer framework to convert the selected voice input into text. Audio is provided to Apple's speech-recognition framework and may be processed by Apple according to the device's speech-recognition availability and Apple's privacy practices. The resulting transcript is passed to the on-device AI model. The App does not send the transcript or chat prompt to a third-party AI inference service.
Certain limited, non-conversation data may be processed by third-party services integrated into the App:
Sign-in is entirely optional — you can use all core chat features as a guest without signing in. If you choose to sign in with Apple ("Sign in with Apple"), we receive only the identity information Apple provides (name and/or email, or a private relay email if you choose to hide your email), which is stored locally on your device to remember your session. We do not operate a server that verifies or stores this identity remotely.
The App offers an optional backup feature that lets you export your chat data to a cloud storage service you control:
If you enable this feature, your conversation backups are uploaded directly from your device to your own iCloud Drive storage using Apple's frameworks. We do not have access to these backup files — they are stored in your personal cloud storage account, governed by Apple's own privacy policy and terms.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Limited data may be shared with the service providers named above (Google AdMob, Apple) strictly to provide their respective functionality (advertising, sign-in, payments, cloud storage), governed by their own privacy policies.
Because your conversation data and account/session information are stored locally on your device, you have full control over this data:
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable data protection laws (such as GDPR or CCPA) regarding any personal data processed by the third-party services described above. Since we do not operate a backend server that stores your conversation data, most such requests should be directed to the relevant service provider (Apple, Google) for data they process. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
